The Sleeping Lubra 2
On our holiday in Broken Hill we visited Jack Absolom's art gallery. He had a number of paintings of a mountain that impressed me greatly. He called it The Sleeping Lubra. Lubra is a term for aboriginal woman. Some consider it offensive but I guess it depends on how you use it. The mountain is in fact Mt. Sonder in the West MacDonnell Ranges. Jack explained how the colours are different every time he visits. I resolved to go there and photograph her. The photo was taken from Glen Helen.
