Willie Wagtail

Rhipidura leucophrys
Notice how its white eyebrows appear as fierce false eyes. I guess in the moonlight, this wards off predators while it sleeps. Although they don’t seem to sleep much. I’ve often heard them repeatedly call their “pretty little trichet” call late into the night.

  • Eastern Whipbird - Male
  • Spotted Bowerbird - Note the purple patch on its nape
  • Spotted Bowerbird - I threw it a cherry tomato which it picked up immediately. Not sure if it wants the tomato to eat or to decorate its bower.
  • Grey Fantail
  • Willie Wagtail
  • Channel-billed Cuckoo - male
  • White-browed Scrubwren
  • Pied Currawong - Currawong-v-Bug Dog Fight See the bug at about 2 o'clock from the Currawong's eye. While the bird's head is pointed away from the bug, the bird's right eye is fixed firmly on it. The Currawong wins, by the way.

  • Australian Shelduck
  • Zebra Finche - male An almost perfectly beautify male Zeb looking to have a drink at a bore drain. One of my most favourite birds
  • Australian White Ibis - Ibis spreading its wings to dry after a dip in a pool at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney. Note the bright red colour of the skin under its wing.
  • Straw-necked Ibis in flight
