The old gray bark peals making way for the new.  Usually the new bark is pinkish but occasionally individuals are found with a brilliant orange bark that fades to gray later in the year.

Scribbly Gum (Eucalyptus haemastoma)
The marking are caused by an insect larva that favours this species.

The Bloodwood (Corymbia gummifera) often bleeds red sap which becomes a brilliant blood red after rain
