GENTIANACEAE: Centaurium tenuiflorum
An introduced weed almost identical to the indigenous Centaurium spicatum (Australian Centaury)
OLEACEAE: Ligustrum lucidum
A very invasive introduced species
OLEACEAE: Ligustrum sinense
A very invasive introduced species
Oxalis incarnata
OXALIDACEAE:
PITTOSPORACEAE: Billardiera heterophylla
POACEAE: Axonopus fissifolius
Thanks to Harry Rose for the ID
POACEAE: Paspalum dilatatum
A grass introduced from South America. It grows from 1 to 3m tall. When flowering, it exudes a sticky substance. As kids playing in long paspalum grass, we often come home with our limbs almost black with dirt and paspalum sap. My childhood friend Darryll Wormald informs me that the black substance in the paspalum sap is ergot, a fungal disease poisonous to humans.
POACEAE: Setaria parviflora
Thanks to Harry Rose for the ID
PRIMULACEAE: Anagallis arvensis
This is the famous Scarlet Pimpernel. I would love to claim it as a native but alas, on Australia it is simply a tiny innocuous introduced weed.
